Trip Objectives
To learn through experience the programatic structure and impact of African Leadership’s work.
To meet and informally assess key personnel in the AL network
To leverage the disruption of international travel to learn elements of God we can more clearly see outside our own culture.
Trip Itinerary
Saturday, July 13
10:00am - meet at the delta counter for our 12:30 flight
- have your passport and yellow fever card with you
- we will eat before we leave
12:30 pm - leave for Atlanta, Amsterdam, Kigali, Entebbe
Sunday, July 14th
11:00pm - arrive Entebbe, Uganda
Monday, July 15th
9:00am - arrive Entebbe airport for our flight to Adjumani
1:00 pm - settle into our hotel
2:00pm - meet with Tito and Adjumani team
Tuesday, July 16th
8:00 - leave Adjumani for the day to Bidi Bidi refugee camp
Wednesday, July 17th
9:00am - leave for Gulu Uganda
Thursday - July 18th
9:00am - meet with Ugandan team
2:00pm - leave for Murchison Falls
Friday, July 19th - Safari
Saturday, July 20 - safari
2:00 pm leave for Entebbe
Sunday, July 21,
9:00 - leave for Lilongwe Malawi
2:00pm - arrive Lilongwe hotel
Monday - sightsee
Tuesday, July 23
2:15pm - depart Lilongwe for Amsterdam
Wednesday, July 24
8:00am - arrive Amsterdam

Schedule immunizations (must be completed by end of June)
Ensure passports are valid and don’t expire before February 2025 and have more than 8 blank pages
Determine funding plan (fundraise or self-pay) and let AL know
Fill out the initial trip paperwork Trip Forms

Meet with AL staff to learn AL program
Fill out additional visa application forms (LINK TBD)
Get passports to AL team for Visas
Fundraise if necessary

Ensure total of $16500 is raised or paid by June 15
Meet with AL staff for 2nd trip briefing

Required: Yellow Fever
Recommended: Covid -19, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis, Typhoid, Cholera, Rabies, Meningitis, Polio, Malaria

Girls: Pants, t-shirts, skirts, dresses (cover shoulders and knees to be culturally sensitive)

You will only need cash for personal purchases and gifts. We recommend between $100-$500.
Do know, credit cards are rarely a payment option.

July is the dry season in Africa - so limited rain and between 75-85 degrees during the day. It is possible we are without air conditioning at some of our hotel stays.

Uganda and Malawi use the G adapter. Please make sure you have enough for your devises.
Phones will work great if you opt for an international plan.
Wi-fi will usually only be available at hotels

The total cost estimation for each person is $8,250. This includes all flight, food, transportation, hotels, and gorilla trek.
Note: This costs include all travel up and through your time in Malawi. We have not factored in costs for the safari or European travel.
